The closest international airport to Telluride is Denver International Airport which is a 7-hour drive. Telluride is located southwest Colorado in the four corners region where Colorado meets Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.  It would be best to fly into Montrose Regional Airport which takes approximately 1 hour and 25 minute drive to Telluride.

Denver International Airport is a hub for United Airlines, Frontier, Delta and Southwest. Southwest is a great lower budget option for those travelling to the ski fields as they do not charge baggage or change fees- amazing for those chasing powder or taking their own equipment.

Montrose Regional Airport is the primary airport for Telluride. Located roughly an hour and 20 minutes away and nonstop flights from 11 major hubs, this is a popular option for travellers.

Car Hire

A few of the car hire companies you’ll find at Denver International Airport are Advantage, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty. For winter driving, we recommend choosing a 4WD or all-wheel drive otherwise the car may require winter chains. If you do plan on hiring a car, be sure your GPS is set correctly as some routes are summer only roads.

Shuttle Transfer

There are shuttles that operate from Montrose Regional Airport to Telluride as well if you aren’t wanting to hire a car. Telluride Express operates daily shuttle to and from the airport. Shuttle services recommend pre-booking your seat prior to travelling in order to secure a spot.

If you’d like to book transfers with your ski package speak to one of our travel specialists at Liquid Snow Tours.
